Short answers to the questions readers send Haskell World most often, plus where to write if yours is not covered here.
Haskell World covers functional programming, Haskell specifically, developer tools, open source projects, backend systems, and the ideas from typed functional programming that have influenced modern software development.
Three writers: Finnian Burke covers backend systems and language design, Sonja Reiter covers open source and developer tools, and Adil Sato covers programming languages and tutorials.
No. Many of the ideas here are useful for developers working in any typed language. We write about Haskell because its design forces clarity about things other languages leave implicit, which makes it a good lens for writing about programming more generally.
Regularly across all six topic areas. There is no fixed schedule, but new articles appear when we have something worth reading rather than just something to fill a calendar.
Yes. You can reach us at [email protected]. We read everything, though we cannot respond to every message individually.
Sometimes. Haskell is the primary focus, but articles that draw comparisons to Elm, PureScript, F Sharp, or OCaml appear when the comparison adds something to the explanation.
Some are. The beginner content is genuinely written for people starting from scratch, not the kind that assumes you already know Haskell before reading the introduction. Intermediate and advanced pieces are clearly labelled.
Write to [email protected] and ask. Questions that arrive more than once usually end up as an article, and the ones that arrive often end up on this page.
